Every gesture
This is what you get before changing anything: each one starts out following the trackpad setting it copies.
| Gesture | Does | Follows |
|---|---|---|
| One finger, move | Move the cursor | Tracking speed, approximated |
| Tap | Left click | Tap to click |
| Two-finger tap | Right click | Secondary click |
| Three-finger tap | Middle click | Three finger tap |
| Four-finger tap | Unbound — yours to assign | Your Mac has no four-finger tap |
| Two fingers, move | Scroll | Direction, inertia, horizontal scroll |
| Two fingers sideways | Back / forward | Swipe between pages |
| Three fingers, left / right | Switch full-screen apps | Swipe between pages |
| Three fingers, up / down | Mission Control | Mission Control |
| Four fingers, left / right | Switch full-screen apps | Swipe between full-screen apps |
| Four fingers, up / down | Mission Control / App windows | Mission Control |
| Four fingers, pinch in | Launchpad | Launchpad |
| Five fingers, spread | Show Desktop | Show Desktop |
| Press and hold, then move | Drag / select text | Always available |
Reassign any of them
Each swipe direction is its own setting, from a list of whole sentences rather than a menu.
Change your mind mid-stroke
Lay a second finger down during a move and it becomes a scroll, exactly as on the trackpad.
Zoom steps, rotate can't
No public macOS API can synthesize a magnify or a rotation, so zoom is sent as ⌘+ / ⌘−.
